Page 1 of 3 discrete organic chemical discrete organic chemical means any chemical belonging to a class of chemical compounds consisting of all compounds of carbon, except for its oxides, sulphides and metal carbides or carbonates, identifiable by chemical structure, by structural formula, if known, and by the chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) registry number, if assigned, and not contained in the chemicals listed in Annexures A, B or C of Government Notice No. 18 of 03 February 2010. organic CHEMICALS organic chemicals are defined as any chemical belonging to a class of chemical compounds consisting of all compounds of carbon (except for its oxides, sulphides and metal carbides or carbonates), identifiable by chemical structure, by structural formula, if known, and by chemical Abstract Service (CAS) registry number, if assigned (except hydrocarbons or polymers).

2 Hydrocarbons are excluded if only hydrocarbons are produced by the facility. If hydrocarbons as well as other organic chemicals are produced, then all organic chemicals are declarable. Salts of the discrete organic chemicals are also declarable. Polymers and oligomers are excluded. Note: In the context of the chemical Weapons Convention, these chemicals are referred to as Unscheduled discrete organic Chemicals . However, for purposes of simplification, discrete organic chemicals will be referred to as organic chemicals in this document. If the chemicals produced contain the following functional groups, these chemicals must be declared under discrete organic chemicals.
