Answer: PowerPath/VE requires two independent components that need to be downloaded and installed. The first component includes the powerpath ESX drivers (refer to chart below for powerpath /vSphere compatibility). The second component includes the CLI and support tools.

8 Answer: General guidelines for helping you select the right ELMS mode for your data center follow: ELMS Unserved mode is a good fit for small sites (up to about 20 hosts) and requires you to enter the license key manually for each ESX host. This mode is not supported on vSphere 5 stateless hosts. ELMS Served mode with centralized license management is a good fit for larger deployments and is required for stateless/auto-deployed hosts (vSphere 5 only). Answer: If you already have an EMC license server, all you need to do is add the license file to the licensing path of the license server.

Answer: No. While you can switch licenses between Unserved and Served (and Served to Unserved) modes, you are required to switch all licenses associated with a particular order. In other words, on an order for 50 PowerPath/VE licenses, you must switch all 50 licenses from one mode to the other.
