2 Cold water entering the systemis directed into the built-in baffle chamber, where waterturbulence is eliminated. Eliminating turbulence allows naturalphysical properties to force hot water to the top of the tank andcold water to the bottom. The resulting effect creates nearlyperfect stratification allowing the hot water to be drawn from thetank Lock-Temp system makes Lochinvar Storage Tanks moreefficient. Consider that a typical storage tank delivers only about60% of its stored water volume at the desired temperature whileLochinvar tanks with the Lock-Temp baffle deliver a minimum of80%. This efficiency allows for more economical sizing ofstorage tanks.

3 A design calling for 400 gallons of 180 F waterwould require a 670 gallon standard tank while a Lock-Temp tankwould deliver the same 180 F volume using only a 500 gallontank. A 170 gallon ordinary storage tanks, water circulation or a heavydraw of hot water from the top of the tank causes anincoming rush of cold water, creating turbulence in thetank s stored water supply. The result isinter-mixed hot and cold water that requires constantadjustment at the fixtures to maintain the desiredtemperature. Lochinvar Lock-Temp Storage Tankseliminate these problems with a unique inner chamberbaffle that absorbs and flattens turbulence caused byincoming water.
