Foreword by the MinisterMinister: Dr BE Nzimande, MPthe 2017 academic year registration process was greatly improved alongside increased participation by all stakeholdersIt is my pleasure to present the Annual Report of the Department of higher education and training for the 2016/17 financial year. This report represents our achievements and the audited Annual financial Statements, as part of the continued efforts to build an expanded Post-School education and training system, articulated in the Strategic Plan and 2016/17 Annual Performance Plan. I am therefore honoured to present the Department s performance outcomes for this reporting period alongside the unqualified audit report comprises the second since the incorporation of the Technical and Vocational education and training (TVET), as well as Community education and training functions by the Department, and the first year during which dedicated Branches became operational for these two sectors.
