7 In case of a leak,LP/propane gas will settle close to the floor and maybe difficult to smell. An LP/propane leak detectorshould be installed in all LP InformationWARNINGI mproper INSTALLATION , adjustment, alteration, serviceor maintenance can cause property damage, person-al injury or loss of life. INSTALLATION and service mustbe performed by a licensed professional installer (orequivalent), service agency or the gas with any mechanical equipment, personal injurycan result from contact with sharp sheet metaledges. Be careful when you handle this only the type of gas approved for use with this to unit CodesIn the USA, INSTALLATION of gas furnaces must conform with lo-cal building codes.
8 In the absence of local codes, units mustbe installed according to the current National Fuel Gas Code( 54). The National Fuel Gas Code isavailable from the following address:American National Standards Institute, West 42nd StreetNew York, NY 10036 Installed LocationsIn Canada, INSTALLATION must conform with current NationalStandard of Canada CSA-B149 Natural Gas and PropaneInstallation Codes, local plumbing or waste water codesand other applicable local furnace is designed for INSTALLATION clearances to com-bustible material as listed on the unit nameplate and in thetables in figures 10 and 11. Accessibility and service clear-ances must take precedence over fire protection For INSTALLATION on combustible floors, the furnaceshall not be installed directly on carpeting, tile, or othercombustible material other than wood INSTALLATION in a residential garage, the furnace mustbe installed so that the burner(s) and the ignition sourceare located no less than 18 inches (457 mm) above thefloor.
9 The furnace must be located or protected to avoidphysical damage by vehicles. When a furnace is installedPage 5in a public garage, hangar, or other building that has a haz-ardous atmosphere, the furnace must be installed accord-ing to recommended good practice requirements and cur-rent National Fuel Gas Code or CSA B149 NOTE Furnace must be adjusted to obtain a tem-perature rise (100% percent capacity) within the range(s)specified on the unit nameplate. Failure to do so may causeerratic limit operation and may also result in premature heatexchanger SLP98 UHV furnace must be installed so that its elec-trical components are protected from in Combination with a Cooling CoilWhen this furnace is used with cooling units, it shall beinstalled in parallel with, or on the upstream side of, coolingunits to avoid condensation in the heating a parallel flow arrangement, a damper (or other meansto control the flow of air) must adequately prevent chilled airfrom entering the furnace.
10 If the damper is manually oper-ated, it must be equipped to prevent operation of either theheating or the cooling unit, unless it is in the full HEAT orCOOL setting. See figure 3 Gas UnitHeating Unit Installed Upstream of Cooling UnitGas UnitDampers(open during heating operation only)Dampers(open during cooling operation only)Heating Unit Installed Parallel to Air Handler UnitAir Handler UnitCooling CoilWhen installed, this furnace must be electrically groundedaccording to local codes. In addition, in the United States, INSTALLATION must conform with the current National ElectricCode, ANSI/NFPA No. 70. The National Electric Code(ANSI/NFPA No. 70) is available from the following ad-dress:National Fire Protection Association1 Battery March ParkQuincy, MA 02269 NOTE This furnace is designed for a minimum continu-ous return air temperature of 60 F (16 C) or an intermit-tent operation down to 55 F (13 C) dry bulb for caseswhere a night setback thermostat is used.
