9 16 APPENDIX 1: Examples of methods of secure disposal of non-compliant wood packaging material .. 19 ISPM 15 Regulation of wood packaging material in international trade ISPM 15-4 international Plant Protection Convention Adoption This standard was first adopted by the Fourth Session of the Interim Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in March 2002 as Guidelines for regulating wood packaging material in international trade . Modifications to Annex 1 were adopted by the First Session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in April 2006.

10 The first revision was adopted by the Fourth Session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in March April 2009 as the present standard. Revision to Annex 1 together with associated change in Annex 2, was adopted by the Eighth Session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in April 2013. INTRODUCTION Scope This standard describes phytosanitary measures that reduce the risk of introduction and spread of quarantine pests associated with the movement in international trade of wood packaging material made from raw wood. Wood packaging material covered by this standard includes dunnage but excludes wood packaging made from wood processed in such a way that it is free from pests ( plywood).
