To qualify, hunters need to hunt a Blesbuck ram, shoot a game bird on wing and catch a Rainbow or Brown trout in a lake or dam.

3 All taken ethically and in the spirit of the sport, this is the challenge of a true Macnab hunt. This feet needs to be accomplished between sunrise and sunset on the same day. It is an exciting, adrenaline-pumping rush from one venue to the next in an environment where nature deals the cards. The achiever is rewarded with a certificate proving he has successfully succeeded in completing the Macnab challenge together with a satisfying feel of success. Macnab challenge will be conducted in the Mpumalanga Province between the towns of Dullstroom and Belfast. Macnab Season The Macnab season runs from the 2nd May to the 31st July. The Macnab will only be conducted from Monday mornings to Thursday Afternoons.

4 Macnab Rules 1. Hunters must be in possession of a valid firearms competency. 2. Hunters must be of the minimum age of 18 or be accompanied by a responsible guardian 3. The challenge is conducted from sunrise to sunset on the same day(12 hours). 4. The game bird (Helmeted Guinea fowl, Crested or Natal Francolin) must be shot on the wing with a shotgun 5. The Blesbuck / Swartwildebees must not to be shot from a vehicle. 6. A minimum calibre of .243 to be used to hunt the Blesbuck. 7. The trout has to be caught on fly with Fly rod and reel. 8. The Professional Hunter has the final say in size and rules. 9. Hunters must be here at 3pm the day before the Macnab.
