It was field-tested in the Reading Center ofNortheastern Illinois University and in several schools in the Chicago metropoli-tan area with the help of graduate students in the Departments of Reading andSpecial Education at Northeastern Illinois word lists consist of 25 words each. They were developed using BasicReading Vocabularies(Harris & Jacobson, 1982). Each word presented in the wordlists is included in the passages read by the students.
