The Living Machine ® is a second ... aeration to prevent anaerobic conditions, and to encourage floc-forming and denitrifying microorganisms. The primary purpose of the anoxic reactor is to promote growth of floc-forming microorganisms, which will remove a significant portion of the incoming BOD5.
