This is specialized fleet management work assisting the Route Manager and Transportation Center Director in managing the day-to-day operation of a Transportation Center. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Administrative Assistant, though the employee is expected to exercise independent judgement and initiative in monitoring and ensuring efficient and safe school bus operations within the assigned area of responsibility. JOB TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES.

2 1. Supervises and monitors job performance of bus drivers and aides. Ensures that bus drivers and aides are on compliance with all job requirements as specified in Florida Statutes, State Board of Education Rules, and MIAMI-DADE COUNTY school Board Rules and Policies. 2. Maintains proficiency in the Computerized Routing System and other systems within the M-DCPS Teleprocessing Network. 3. Recommends changes to improve existing routes, loading areas, and to minimize potentially hazardous conditions. Prepares road network surveys and prepares all reports and maps required for the routing and dispatch functions. Assists in the preparation of accurate, concise reports required for State FEFP Surveys and Route Analysis Reports.

3 4. Coordinates with school officials, parents, vehicle maintenance personnel and others to achieve and maintain safe and effective service on assigned routes. Responds to telephone calls and written complaints regarding problems and emergencies with bus routes and ensures that these problems and emergencies are resolved in a timely manner which will promote optimum relations with parents, school staff, and students. 5. Rides periodically with, and ensures efficient operation of, school buses, treatment of passengers, and care of vehicles. Ensures that assigned drivers complete required pre-trip inspections, conducts weekly check of buses for safety and cleanliness, and performs dexterity tests for school bus drivers, as required.

4 6. Monitors bus aides for compliance with safety procedures in operating wheelchair lifts, tie-down equipment, and use of harnesses and restraint devices. 7. For accidents involving a school bus and/or student passengers, verifies that emergency assistance has been contacted when necessary and that immediate notification to the proper authorities and transportation administration has been made. Ensures that all necessary report information is obtained including names and addresses of witness, photographs, measurements and law enforcement case number. Page 2. Job Code 6278. 8. Uses district vehicle to travel to and from accident scene. 9. Rotating shift work may be required.

5 10. Performs other related duties as required or assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS. This is light work which requires the following physical activities: twisting, reaching, grasping, sitting, standing, walking, finger dexterity, talking, hearing, visual acuity and operating a motor vehicle. The work is performed indoors and outdoors. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS. 1. Graduation from high school or and equivalent recognized certificate. 2. At least three (3) years experience in operations of school buses or other comparable large vehicles. Vehicle dispatch knowledge is preferred. A valid Florida class B CDL with passenger endorsement is preferred.

6 3 Knowledge of fleet management practices and procedures. 4. Knowledge of M-DCPS route planning and scheduling practices and procedures. 5. Excellent knowledge of COUNTY geography. 6. Knowledge of M-DCPS computerized Transportation Systems preferred. 7. Ability to handle stressful situations and work assigned schedule. 8. Possession of a valid Florida class E driver's license.
