Introduction Background Statistics South africa (Stats SA) has identified a need to publish statistics on Perinatal deaths . This information is based on administrative records captured on death notification forms collected from the South African civil registration system maintained by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). The registration of stillbirths and deaths in South africa is governed by the Births and deaths Registration Act of 1992 (Act of 1992). The act was amended in 2010 as part of a strategy to improve the registration of births and reduce fraud (Act of 2010).
