It is connected to the return linesof the mold cooling water loop. A simple bellows and range springcapsule senses the temperature of the water leaving the moldand compares it to the set point temperature. The set point iseasily adjusted by rotating the pointer knob to the desired watertemperature value on the calibration scale. The dialthermometer provides visual verification of the : A discrete cooling water temperature always correspondsto a hotter mold (steel) the water temperature leaving the mold is hotter than theset point, the internal valve modulates toward open, coolingwater flow rate increases and cooling water temperaturedecreases to stabilize at the set point.
2 When the watertemperature leaving the mold is cooler than the set point, theinternal valve modulates toward close, cooling water flow ratedecreases, residency time in the mold increases and cooling watertemperature rises until stabilizing at the set point. The valve nevercompletely : The Mold Temperature Regulator recovers waste heat en-ergy from the resin shot and transfers it to heat thecooling water and the mold. The mold Temperature Regulatordoes not generate heat and it does not function as a Controls Barrel Feed Throat TemperaturesMolders typically process using maximum water flow in thebarrel feed throat cooling loop. This works until the ambienttemperature and humidity increase to a point wherecondensation forms on the metal feed throat and the hydroscopicresin material begins to absorb moisture.
