7 When deployed in a Virtual Chassis configuration, up to four EX2300-C switches can operate as a single, logical EX2300-C switches can be interconnected over either of thetwo front panel 10 GbE uplink ports, these ports can also beconfigured as 1 GbE uplinks to aggregation devices by disabling theVirtual Chassis deployed in a Virtual Chassis configuration, the EX2300-Cswitches elect a primary and a backup switch based on a set ofpreconfigured policies or criteria. The primary switch automaticallycreates and updates the switching and optional routing tables on allother Virtual Chassis switch members. Switches can be added to orremoved from the Virtual Chassis configuration without Virtual Chassis configurations operate as highly resilientunified systems, providing simplified management using a single IPaddress, single telnet/SSH session, single command-line interface(CLI), automatic version checking, and automatic configuration.

8 TheEX2300-C switches are also capable of local switching, so packetscoming into a port destined for another port on the same switch donot have to traverse the Virtual Chassis, increasing Virtual Chassis configurations implement the same slot/module/port numbering schema as other Juniper Networks chassis-based products, providing true chassis-like operations. By using aconsistent operating system and a single configuration file, allswitches in a Virtual Chassis configuration are treated as a singledevice, simplifying overall system maintenance and OperationsVirtual Chassis technology simplifies network management forsmaller deployments. Up to four interconnected EX2300-Cswitches can be managed as a single device utilizing a single JunosOS image and a single configuration file, reducing the overallnumber of units to monitor and manage.

9 When the Junos OS isupgraded on the primary switch in an EX2300-C Virtual Chassisconfiguration, the software is automatically upgraded on all othermember switches at the same front panel RJ-45 and USB console ports offer flexibleout-of-band management options, while a front panel USB port canbe used to easily upload the Juniper Networks Junos operatingsystem and configuration files. All front panel access and uplinkports have dedicated link status and link activity LEDs. In addition, aseries of front panel LEDs offer system status information with abutton that allows users to toggle through four different modes forreporting speed (SPD), duplex mode (DX), administrative status(EN), and PoE status (PoE). A fixed internal power supply ensuresoperational ProvisioningAuto-configuration and Auto-Image Install features allow theswitches to be configured and imaged over the network using theDynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) message exchangeprocess.
