2 This pamphlet applies to Regular Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard to the extent they are capable of providing the required Services . In collaboration with the Chief of Air Force Reserve (AF/RE) and the Director of the Air National Guard (NGB/CF), the Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower, Personnel, and Services (AF/A1) develops personnel policy for PROTOCOL . This Air Force Pamphlet (AFPAM) may be supplemented at any level; all MAJCOM level supplements must be approved by the HSB prior to certification and approval. Refer recommended changes and questions about this publication to the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) using the AF Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF Form 847s from the field through the appropriate functional chain of command .

This pamphlet provides guidance and history for excellence in PROTOCOL , decorum, customs and courtesies during Air Force ceremonies, conferences, and social events, in hosting distinguished visitors and in honors afforded at military funerals.
