SUCTION LINE ACCUMULATORS - פי.סי חץ

SUCTION line ACCUMULATORSThe primary function of a SUCTION line Accumulator is toprevent a sudden surge of liquid refrigerant, or oil, fromreturning down the SUCTION line and into a compressor. Thesuction line accumulator is a temporary reservoir for liquidrefrigerant and accumulator is designed to meter both the liquid refrigerant and oilback to the compressor at a controlled rate. This prevents compressordamage. By metering the liquid refrigerant and oil back to thecompressor, the accumulator also helps maintain system efficiency andproper crankcase oil levels. Both horizontal and vertical SUCTION lineaccumulators are available. Heat Exchanger (HE) and Heat Pump models(HP) are also line ACCUMULATORS are installed in air conditioning andrefrigeration systems where a sudden return of liquid down the suctionline is possible.

1 SUCTION line ACCUMULATORSThe primary function of a SUCTION line Accumulator is toprevent a sudden surge of liquid refrigerant, or oil, fromreturning down the SUCTION line and into a compressor.

2 The product range is designed for use with HCFC andHFC refrigerants, along with their associated it worksRefrigerant vapour from the evaporator enters the SUCTION lineaccumulator, along with any liquid refrigerant or oil. The outlet side ofeach accumulator is designed to allow refrigerant vapour to return to thecompressor. For a horizontal vessel, the position of the outlet connectionensures vapour return. For a vertical vessel, vapour return is achieved bya special U tube arrangement. On certain models, a tube within a tubearrangement is used as an alternative. Liquid is held at the bottom of theaccumulator ready for metering back to the horizontal ACCUMULATORS , liquid is metered to the compressor via adip tube.

3 For vertical models, liquid is metered to the compressor via ascreened orifice at the bottom of the tube. The vapour carries themetered liquid back to the compressor. Metering of liquid only occurswhen the compressor is features Prevents liquid slugging Controlled liquid return Large flow capacity Low pressure drop Screen protected orifice on vertical models Heat exchanger and Heat pump optionsTechnical SpecificationS-76 series:MWP = barg @ +100oC S-704 series (all models), S-7061-CE to S-7065-CE (except HEmodels), S-7721-CE & S-7725-CE (except HE models):MWP = 31 barg @ +100oC S-705 series (all models), S-7061-CE to S-7065-CE (HE models), allother S-77 series models :MWP = 31 barg @ +130oC Note: For all models, a de-rated MWP applies for operating temperatures below -10 oC.

7 Normally, this should not be less than 50% of the total system system designer should check that the minimum and maximumsystem refrigeration capacities are within the limits of the recommended minimum and maximum kW capacities are listed inthe table. The maximum kW capacities are based on accumulatorpressure loss and oil return. The pressure loss is equivalent to 1 minimum kW capacities are to ensure proper oil :Refrigerant R404 ASystem maximum refrigeration capacity = 170 kWSystem minimum refrigeration capacity = 65 kWEvaporating temperature = -18oCSystem Charge = 55 kgRecommended accumulator is model S-7731-CE with a refrigerantholding capacity of 30 kg and a minimum/maximum rating of 37/197 selection informationThe heat exchanger models can be used on low temperature systems tosub-cool the liquid line while helping to boil off liquid refrigerant in theaccumulator by passing the liquid line through the heat exchanger can increase system efficiency while helping oil flow in the suctionline.

8 Do not use discharge gas through the heat exchange coil as there isa risk of overheating the pump systems must use the HP accumulator models. Winterheating can cause too much liquid refrigerant to slug back to thecompressor. Heat pump ACCUMULATORS incorporate a smaller orifice toprevent excessive liquid ACCUMULATORS can be piped in series to increase holding capacity. Oilwill be metered from one accumulator to the next to ensure proper oilflow to the compressors. Adding a second identical accumulator willeffectively double the holding capacity of a single two identical ACCUMULATORS in parallel will double the kW identical ACCUMULATORS must be low temperature systems (-18oC and below) a heater band should beinstalled to help boil off the liquid refrigerant and aid oil flow.

9 Do notadd too much heat or there is a risk of overheating the ACCUMULATORS should not be used when the liquid refrigeranttemperature is less than Main issues1. Install the accumulator after the SUCTION line A fusible plug is fitted to the bottom of the vessel on series S-70 HEmodels. For all other models, a pressure relief device connection isprovided at the top of the vessel. The user must ensure that thevessel is protected from over-pressure. Over-pressure will occur if theliquid refrigerant is evaporated external fire Heater bands should be installed at the bottom of a verticalaccumulator and at the outlet end of a horizontal 13/9/06 17:25 Page 45
