These Network switches , categorized as Recommended products, are supplied with the default configurations customized for Vnet/IP and they are referred to as the Recommended Switch in this document. The Recommended switches consist of two types of switches ; one is Managed and the other is unmanaged .

2 Whenever the word Recommended Switche(s) is used, both types are referred to in this use these Recommended switches to establish a Vnet/IP Network . All the Recommended switches are dedicated for Vnet/IP . Refrain from using them as Ethernet switches for non- Vnet/IP Network such as an information document is provided for those who have basic understanding of the Vnet/IP systems, and contains the functions and specifications of the Recommended switches . Read this document thoroughly before configuring the Vnet/IP Network and refer to the user s manual attached to the devices to obtain detailed information as well as to use them details about Vnet/IP and how to set up a Network , please refer to the following related document.

This section describes features of the Recommended switches . Features of Recommended switches Yokogawa certified Buyout equipment for Vnet/IP Stable supply of the tested models Customized default configuration for Vnet/IP Service by Yokogawa engineer (*1)*1: Yokogawa service engineers support the Recommended Switch in case it is used for Vnet/IP .

7 Use it only for Vnet/IP , as other Network connection is not guaranteed or supported. Categories of Recommended SwitchesTwo types of the recommended switches are available. Managed Switch A managed Switch has configuration function and self-diagnostic function so that it can be placed anywhere on the Vnet/IP Network . unmanaged Switch An unmanaged Switch is not equipped with either configuration function or self-diagnostic function so that it can be placed only on the edge of the Vnet/IP Network . Please refer to How to use unmanaged Switch for more 19, 2014-00 1. Overview1-2TI 30A10A30-01E Models and customized default configurations of Recommended SwitchesBoth Layer2 Switch (L2SW) and Layer3 Switch (L3SW) models are lined up as the Recommended switches .

8 L2SW is a device to connect stations and modules within a Vnet/IP is used for connecting Vnet/IP domains. Several models are available by input power type and port variation type. The Recommended switches are customized with the default configuration (*2) to be dedicatedly used in Vnet/IP networks. For any of a typical Vnet/IP Network , the Recommended switches require no initial settings. (*1)Note: In the standard Vnet/IP Network , the Vnet/IP Network switches use the default setting, and only Vnet/IP stations and SNTP server are connected. If other devices are connected or the configuration settings of the Vnet/IP Network switches are changed from the default, on site confirmation is required for the influence of them in advance.

9 *1: The default parameters of the Recommended Switch are shown in Appendix 1. Recommended L3SW has two configuration models for BUS1 or BUS2. Recommended L2SW has an identical configuration model for BUS1 and BUS2.*2: The default configuration is available only for the managed switches . The unmanaged Switch does not have configuration parameters. Accessories for Recommended SwitchesFollowing accessories are provided as optional for the Recommended switches . SFP module An SFP module is an optical transceiver to connect the Recommended switches with an optical fiber. Auto Configuration Adapter (ACA) ACA is a USB memory for the Recommended switches for saving/loading configurations when changing the default configuration.

10 Terminal cable for configuration A terminal cable is for changing the configuration or checking the device status of the Recommended : An AC power cable for local regions is not included in the Recommended Switch . An applicable AC power cable has to be prepared 6, 2020-00 1.
