4 Ubuntu is suitable for both desktop and server use. The current Ubuntu release supports Intel x86 (IBM-compatible PC), AMD64 (Hammer), PowerPC (Apple iBook and Powerbook, G4 and G5) architectures and Ubuntu brings with it, for the first time, support for IBM POWER8 including our MAAS provisioning, Juju cloud orchestration, Landscape systems management and Ubuntu OpenStack. Ubuntu includes more than 1000 pieces of software, starting with the Linux kernel version and GNOME , and covering every standard desktop application from word processing and spreadsheet applications to internet access applications, web server software, email software, programming languages and tools and of course several games.

Connect laptop and Habanero Serial COM1 port via RS232 to USB convertor and DB9 cable then start a PuTTY console to monitor Habanero. SOL (serial over lan): option mode to monitor System . Connect Habanero rear LAN1 port to DHCP environment, start a console and activate SOL by ipmitool command /usr/bin/ipmitool -H -I lanplus -U ADMIN -P admin sol activate. Leave SOL console by command ~. and hit enter or deactivate SOL by command /usr/bin/ipmitool -H -I lanplus -U ADMIN -P admin sol deactivate, x is your BMC IP address.
