It is essential to remember that an ATS is not intended to replace pre-flight planning, nor is it a comprehensive source of information on the presence of other aircraft. It is vital that pilots understand the benefits and limitations of the available ATS, in order to be able to ask an ATSU for the one that is best suited to their requirements.
