II. Synchronous Generators
Armature Reaction in Synchronous Machines . Armature reaction. refers to • the influence on the magnetic field in the air gap when the phase windings a, b, and c on the stator are connected across a load. • The flux produced by the armature winding reacts with the flux set up by the poles on the rotor, causing the total flux to change.

10. Starting Method for Induction Motors
www.uotechnology.edu.iq10. Starting Method for Induction Motors A 3-phase induction motor is theoretically self starting. The stator of an induction motor consists of 3-phase windings, which when connected to a 3-phase supply creates a rotating magnetic field. This will link and cut the rotor conductors which in turn will induce a current in the rotor conductors and

Since the current passing through a series field winding is the same as the armature current, series field windings must be designed with much fewer turns than shunt field windings for the same mmf.
