2 These components are appropri-ately sized and configured to create a microporous struc-ture. This structure limits the number and movements ofair particles, and creates a material of exceptionally lowthermal conductivity. At elevated temperatures, the radia-tion blockers are employed to minimize radiation heattransfer by again proper sizing and materials offer benefits in industrial applica-tions including: Minimizing heat lossrelates simply to energy saving, orreheat issues. For example, steel ladles containing back-up microporous insulation have substantially less solidi-fied steel remaining in the ladle after the casting processis complete, which requires reheating. Consistency of operating temperatures may result in amore consistent final product or an easier process to reg-ulate and control.
