2 Aftertracking a shell for only a few seconds, the AN/TPQ-37weapon- Locating radar can determine its point of a barrage when myriad rockets and artilleryshells are in the air the radar pinpoints large numbersof enemy weapons and quickly relays precise locationinformation for Enemy Firepower, Supports Friendly WeaponsThe AN/TPQ-37 s stationary antenna sweeps a rapidsequence of beams along the horizon, forming an elec-tronic radar curtain over a 90 area. Any target pene-trating the curtain triggers an immediate verificationbeam. On verification, an automatic tracking sequencebegins. While tracking any single target, the radar continuesscanning, Locating and tracking others. The AN/TPQ-37can locate up to 10 different weapons in seconds, at amaximum range of 50 km.

3 When long-range surface-to-surface missiles must be located, a special 60 sectormode extends the AN/TPQ-37 s range. Friendly fire canthen neutralize further fire from those weapons . The AN/TPQ-37 also tracks, corrects, and improves thefire of friendly weapons with registration and adjustmentdata. Mean-time-to-repairis 30 System features both off- and on-line diagnostic hard-ware, built-in test equipment, and automatic fault isolationto the replaceable unit level. When the diagnostics are operating off-line, the computer injects test signals andmonitors the resulting functions.

4 When operating on-line,a continuous automatic program runs System tests.
