The company has estab-lished itself as an educational forum for audiences and students alike, offering workshops, working in schools with students and teachers, artist talks and professional development for both local and visiting artists. 4 The company was awarded The Originals Saint John Award for Per-forming Arts (Dance), performed at Contact East in Charlottetown and recently premiered new compa-ny work with far arms at the Imperial Theatre. Residency Project Through the teaching of creative movement and dance improvisation, dance can be easily integrat-ed throughout any curriculum (Language, dramatic arts, science, ). We are constantly working to grow dance education and audience knowledge in the province and believe that through involving stu-dents in creation processes and then helping to create a dialogue around these experiences we can achieve these goals. It is vitally important to help students understand the reality that they them-selves can create new and exciting dance and art here in New Brunswick. Teaching Experience All of our dancers have experience teaching both in a studio setting and in the classroom. Connection Dance Works has worked with elementary and high School students integrating dance across the curric-ulum.

5 We have also brought in professional instruc-tors from around the country and constructed cur-riculums for local participants to engage in. Togeth-er, we bring years of dance experience to the class-room and our knowledge of style and form is com-prehensive. Residency Project Ballet for Kindergarten students, develops compe-tency in a variety of movement concepts and kines-thetic skills with different diverse range in dance. The class is divided in 4 sections: beginning, floor exercise, dance routine, and finale. In every class I use music. It s an important compo-nent in my classes. Kids absorb information better with music. They learn to recognize different rhythm and tempo. In class students work on: awareness of body parts (feet, legs, head, arms), balance, flexibility, coordi-nation, posture, stamina, awareness of space; and musicality.

Residency Project Arts Project: The Writers Toolbox: an extended workshop in creative writing. This workshop will be eclectic, interactive, and fun. We will experiment with various tools in the writers toolbox such as character sketches, point of view, story arcs, and description as a means of deepening our writing. We will keep a writers notebook, with in-class exer-cises and take-home assignments such as record-ing observations and dialogue we overhear in our daily lives and keeping an idea journal.

9 Students will learn how to edit their work and how to read it aloud in front of others. This workshop is a safe space for creativity and experimentation. We will learn how to respond to each other s work in a respectful and productive way. Students will learn to think of themselves as writers. The writer s toolkit teaches students how writers problem solve. Students will come away with increased confidence and skills to overcome obstacles in their work. Teaching Experience I have taught creative writing to students from six to ninety six, in a university classroom and as a writer in the schools for grades one to twelve. I run the Sackville Art Hive, a free community art studio in Sackville, and am part of a three-writer team that runs a Creative Writing Drop in for teens. Teaching creative writing to kids is my passion. 10 Updated: , 2018 7 AARON CRAIN Music / media arts Aaron is an artist out of Carleton County, New Brunswick who is starting to create a local buzz. Aaron's musical journey has weaved through Gos-pel, pop, rock, folk, and blues. Aaron is currently booking gigs around the East Coast playing solo shows as well as collaborating with other artists. While driven by a passion for sharing music, Aaron is also motivated by his appreciation for the fans who are responsible for his recent local popularity. "Right now my heroes are the friends (both old and new) who come out to hear us and share our mu-sic, so when they do make that effort to attend a show we make sure they don't go away disappoint-ed". Residency Project I am currently working on a song writing/audio pro-duction project with a Grade 6/7 split class at Bath Community School . This project serves as a work-ing template for future projects. It involves working with students to write songs and then produce them.
