In a logarithmic shifter(Fig. 2), the shifter is divided into loga(n ) stages, where n is the input data length. Each bit of the encoded shift value is sent to a different stage of the shifter. Each stage handles a single, powerof- two shift. The input data will be shifted or not shifted by each of the stages in sequence.
