Brucellosis: Brucella melitensis
Mar 03, 2018 · Small ruminants often acquire B. melitensis by contact with organisms in vaginal discharges and birth products (e.g., placenta, fetus, fetal fluids). Most animals are thought to become infected by ingestion and through the oronasal and conjunctival mucosa, but this organism can also be transmitted venereally and through broken skin.

Managing Goat Farming Business
snv.orgIt is easier to increase the population of small ruminants (goats and sheep) than large stock. In economic terms the opportunity costs are low for goat production. “The goat was probably the first animal to be domesticated around 9000-7000 B.C. Nitrate and nitrite poisoning in livestock
www.dpi.nsw.gov.auFrequent intake of small amounts of high-nitrate feed increases the total amount of nitrate that can be consumed by ruminant animals without adverse effects. This is because rumen microbes are adapted to deal with the increased nitrate content of the feed.
