Chapter 4 Open Channel Flows - Anasayfa
Chapter 4 Open Channel Flows 4.1. Introduction When the surface of flow is open to atmosphere, in other terms when there is only atmospheric pressure on the surface, the flow is named as open channel flow. The governing force for the open channel flow is the gravitational force component along the channel slope.

Discussion The normal depth is a fairly strong function of surface roughness. 13-2C Solution We are to discuss how pressure changes along the free surface in open-channel flow. Analysis The free surface coincides with the hydraulic grade line (HGL), and the pressure is constant along the free surface.
