1 Clinical setup : Medications and Pharmacy This manual covers medication Time Codes, medication Schedule Codes, medication treatment setup , and Pharmacy . medication Time Codes: Service Minder allows you to set up alphanumeric passing codes and assign passing time ranges. The time ranges allow Medications to sort properly on the medication Sheet. To access, click on File setup Med Time Codes Open. The System setup Med Time Codes listing screen will open. Click New to add or double click on a Med Time Code to open the record for review or editing. The Med Time Codes entry screen will open. Code Name: Enter the desired text to print on the medication record . Example: AM. Time Range Begin and End: Enter the begin and end dates, these are used for sorting on the medication record and when to have the medication listed on the passing screen.

Note: medication Schedule Codes should be set up after the Unit Stations are setup . medication Schedule Codes allow for default times to be assigned when a medication Schedule Code is specified. Note: The default times can be changed for a resident if needed on the medication entry screen. To access, click on File setup Med Schedule Codes Open. 3 Description, Default Passing Times, Routine/PRN and Inactive: SM Clinical setup : Medications and Pharmacy | Reviewed 6/20/19 4 Description: Use the lookup to select the description, which will then assign the appropriate SIG codes or type the description of the med schedule code. Example: Daily, Twice a Day, At Bedtime, etc. Use the Find field at the bottom of the lookup or scroll to find the description. Default Passing Times: Enter the Default Passing Times. Default Passing Times can be a time or a Med Time Code. Separate multiple times with a comma. Note: The default times can be changed for a resident if needed on the medication entry screen. Example using medication Time Code: Click the drop down at the end of the default passing time field.
4 Each Med Schedule Code can be set up as a Routine or PRN. When a code is no longer in use, check the Inactive box. SM Clinical setup : Medications and Pharmacy | Reviewed 6/20/19 5 Assigning a Unit Station to a Med Schedule Code: If you only have one unit station, it will be checked by default. If you have multiple, you will need to check all that apply to this passing time. Note: It is possible to set up a Daily 8am for 1st floor and a Daily 9am for 2nd floor if you stagger your medication passing in your building. Example of a completed Med Schedule Code: medication - treatment /Other setup : New Medications and/or treatments can be added to the master list. Note: If the medication Library has been purchased by the community, only add treatements and other items wanted to print on the medication sheets for documentation.
5 The master list of Medications will NOT be seen in this list. To access, click on File setup medication - treatment /Other setup Open. The System setup medication - treatment /Other setup listing screen will open. Click New to add or double click on a line to open the record for review or editing. The New medication - treatment /Other setup window will open. Select record Items button: Select vital signs that will default on the treatment /other record when this record is added to a resident.
6 Community Instruction Note: Type in instructions that will default on the default on the treatment /other record when this record is added to a resident. Communities with EMAR: The text in this field will be in the Community Instruction Notes field on the med record . Communities without EMAR: The text in this field will be in the Instructions field on the med record . Inactive: Check inactive to inactivate this treatment /other record . Click Save to close or Add Another to add more Medications or treatments. medication : Name: Enter the name of the medication . Select record Items button: Select vital signs that will default on the medication record when this record is added to a resident.
7 SM Clinical setup : Medications and Pharmacy | Reviewed 6/20/19 8 Alternate Name: Fill in the text field with the alternate name. Classification: Select the drug classification from the dropdown. Schedule: Select the federal controlled substance schedule from the dropdown. Dropdown options: This is a hard-coded list. Schedule II (2) Schedule III (3) Schedule IV (4) Schedule V (5) Narcotic: Checkbox to indicate if the medication is a narcotic. Inactive: Check inactive to inactivate this medication record . Adverse Effects: Fill in the blank field for adverse effects/side effects. Contraindications: Fill in the blank field for contraindications. Drug Identification: Use the drop down options and fill in the blank fields for drug identification.
8 User can Import a photo from their computer files. Click Save to close or Add Another to add more Medications or treatments. Pharmacy To access, click on File setup Pharmacy Open. The System setup Pharmacy listing screen will open. Click New to add or double click on a Pharmacy name to open the record for review or editing. SM Clinical setup : Medications and Pharmacy | Reviewed 6/20/19 9 Complete the fields desired. The Pharmacy name and phone number will print on the Face Sheet and other reports.
