The cutangle must not exceed 5 .Aeroquip recommendsusing saws similar to theS1104 or FT1500 for largebore and spiral hose, andthe FT1258 for FC372 andFC373 hose. Read the sawoperation manual for cuttinginstructions and blade 2: Skive the HoseUsing a suitable skive toolremove the outer hosecover (Do not skive FC372and FC373). It is crucial thatthe hose is skived to theproper length and depth andthe reinforcement is visibleand undamaged around theentire skived area.

8 Improperskiving may lead tofitting/hose separation andlack of weather seal. Referto the Hose Style Index forproper skive tool and skivelength and to Bulletin JA253for skive tool 3: Clean the Hose BoreUsing the FT1355-01 Jetcleaner or hose compati-ble solvent, bottle brush,and/or compressed air, flushcontaminants from the hosebore. See operating instruc-tions for the shop safety 4: Insert the Fittinginto the HosePlace the socket over thehose end until the socketretaining shoulder contactsthe hose end. Insert the nip-ple into the socketed hoseuntil the nipple shoulder bot-toms against the hose the socket up againstthe nipple shoulder or hexand mark the hose cover nextto the skirt of the 5: Crimp the FittingCrimp the fitting then meas-ure the Crimp diameter, oval-ity dimension (see page 2)and inspect the nipple/sock-et position.
