01-50432-02 Effective 04/99 DeviceNet Starter Kit INTRODUCTIONThe DeviceNet Starter Kit is a complete set of Cutler-Hammerproducts designed to give you a thorough introduction toDeviceNet technology and PC-based kit includes the following:Automation Software. Demonstration versions of Cutler-Hammer s software enable you to design and simulate your owncontrol application. NetView is used to configure your devices, while NetSolver allows you to design and control your PC provides operator interface capabilities for your PC,and NetPoiNT is a human machine interface software Card. This card, available in both ISA and PCMCIA versions, fits into a standard or industrial personal computer, permitting communication and control from the computer s CPU tothe DeviceNet network.

It functions as a DeviceNet scanner andacts as the interface between the network and our Motor Starter . Coupled with a WPONIDNA interfacemodule to allow communication over the DeviceNet network, thisstarter features solid-state overload protection, phase loss trip, phase unbalance trip, ground fault trip and an adjustable trip I/O Block. Our DN50 I/O Block acts as a slave device in anopen automation system, providing 8 inputs and 6 outputs. Up to4 modules can be linked together for a total of 56 discrete I/Opoints on one node. An analog expander (not included) can alsobe added, providing up to four analog inputs or two analog Photoelectric Sensor.

This polarized-reflex photoelectricsensor is part of a powerful line of miniature sensors with anindustry-standard 18mm tubular body, and implanted withDeviceNet intelligence. Its threaded body with flat sides mountsquickly in a hole or against any flat surface. All mountinghardware is Media. All components to build a DeviceNet network areincluded. A cable with a Phoenix connector is used to link the PCto the network. A terminator is included to ensure reliable networkcommunications. Assorted tee connectors and drop cables allowindividual devices ( the motor Starter , DN50, and thephotoelectric sensor) to be attached to the network.

The plug-and-play capability of the DeviceNet media means that connections canbe made error-free and without tools. Devices can even be addedwhile the system is Supply. A 120 Vac to 24 Vdc power supply required forDeviceNet systems is also STARTEDThe Starter Kit has been designed to enable you to be up-and-running with a minimal amount of effort. Simply follow the stepsoutlined below:1. Select a PC that meets the system requirements or use aCutler-Hammer D700 Series Automation Insert the DeviceNet Scanner Build the DeviceNet network by connecting the cables, connectors, and Install the Configure and design your of these steps is described on the following pages.

Detailedinformation on each hardware component can be found in the (Instruction Leaflet) included with each Troubleshooting Guide is included at the end of this 1: SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS A personal computer with an Intel Pentium microprocessorand at least 24 MB of RAM (32 is recommended) A inch floppy disk drive and a CD-ROM drive A hard drive with 50 MB free space available (300MB if youchoose to install all the demo software) Windows NT and Service Pack 3 A video card and monitor with VGA or higher resolution that issupported by Windows A mouse supported by WindowsSTEP 2: SCANNER CARD INSTALLATIONINSTALLING AN ISA SCANNER CARD1.

Ground yourself to avoid static discharge. Use an ESD strapto avoid permanent damage to integrated Remove all power from the Remove the back cover of the On the ISA card, set the dip switches to port location dip switch positions are listed SettingAddress1234560 x 2500101000 x 258110100 Page 01-50432-02 Effective 04/995. Ensure the Phoenix connector is removed prior to installingand set aside to be used in Step 3 below. Insert the ISA cardinto the slot and ensure the gold edge-connector seats firmlyinto the expansion slot Reattach the back cover of the computer. Tighten down allscrews and restart the A PCMCIA SCANNER CARD1.

Remove all power from the Remove Phoenix connector from the D930 PCMDNA interfacemodule and set it aside to be used in step 3 below. InsertPCMCIA scanner card into slot on the computer and connectthe D930 PCMDNA interface module to the Restart the :Do not install the software that comes with the scannercard. It is not required for this 3: BUILD THE NETWORK1. Connect all tees together as shown in Figure Connect the micro connector of the Prism photoelectricsensor to the micro connector tee identified as D970 DNDRR03 drop cable is included if more distancebetween the tee and the sensor is Attach the stripped and pre-tinned ends of one of theD970 DNDMP03 drop cable assemblies to the Phoenixconnector provided with the scanner card as shown in Figure2.

Then attach this assembly to the mating receptacle on thescanner card (or D930 PCMDNA module). Attach the otherend of this cable to one of the D970 DNTMM Attach the stripped and pre-tinned ends of one of theD970 DNDMP03 drop cable assemblies to the Phoenixconnector provided with the WPONIDNA and AdvantageMotor Starter as defined by the color code on the attach this assembly to the mating receptacle on theWPONIDNA. Attach the other end of this cable to one of theD970 DNTMM See the installation leaflet for the WPONIDNA for instructionson attaching this interface module to the Advantage Attach the stripped and pre-tinned ends of one of theD970 DNDMP03 drop cable assemblies to the Phoenixconnector provided with the DN50 as defined by the colorcode on the connector.

Then attach this assembly to themating receptacle on the DN50. Attach the other end of thiscable to one of the D970 DNTMM See the installation leaflet of the DN50 I/O Block for specificinstruction on connecting Connect AC power to the appropriate terminals on the DN50I/O block and the Starter . Ensure a jumper wire is connectedbetween E and P on the Connect 24 Vdc power to the appropriate terminals on anyone of the Phoenix Add terminating resistors (D970 DNNA and D970 DNNB) toboth ends of the should now look like that shown in Figure 1 Figure 01-50432-02 Page 3 Effective 04/99 Figure 3 Page 01-50432-02 Effective 04/99 STEP 4: SOFTWARE INSTALLATIONINSTALLING SERVICE PACK #3 FOR WINDOWS NTThe Service Packs are patches made by Microsoft to repair or fixproblems existing in their operating systems.

For Windows NT,there are three Service Packs in existence. For NetSolver, it isrecommended that Service Pack #3 be installed on your computerprior to the installation of Cutler-Hammer Automation CANNOT HAVE NETSOLVER INSTALLED BEFORELOADING ONE OF THE SERVICE PACKS. IF NETSOLVER ISALREADY INSTALLED, YOU MUST FIRST UNINSTALL TO DO THIS CAN CORRUPT FILES AND REQUIRETHE REFORMATTING OF YOUR HARD versions of PanelMate PC and NetPoiNT havebeen included in your DeviceNet Starter Kit. Installation of theseproducts is not required to achieve the intended functionality of theStarter Kit, but please install them to learn more about the superiorinterface solutions that Cutler-Hammer offers for your is a real-time, full-featured, Human Machine Interface(HMI) software package.
