Preferred Shipping Methods The United Stationers Inc. (United Stationers Supply Co.; LagasseSweet; and ORS Nasco) preferred method of shipping Inbound stock orders is collect and allowed. The Inbound supply chain review, freight terms certification, program design, and any necessary contractual amendments, are executed by the United Stationers Inc.

3 Transportation Shared Services (TSS) team. All of the aforementioned are requirements for new supplier setup, as well as for any changes to existing supplier freight terms. The final determination of preferred freight terms can only be made upon the completion of a thorough annual Inbound supply chain analysis. If you have not yet received freight terms certification (collect or prepaid), please contact the TSS team at to schedule a discussion. This general Guide is for the use of suppliers that have received prepaid freight terms certification with provisions for occasional freight collect orders. Page 4 of 23 Supplier Performance Preferred Inbound Service Providers The United Stationers Inc. (United Stationers Supply Co.; LagasseSweet; and ORS Nasco) preferred carrier program has been revised to align with Inbound performance goals and facility productivity measurements. Waivers may still be granted for Supplier Performance assessments related to preferred Inbound service providers; however, certain parameters must be met.

4 Assessment fees for carrier-related Supplier Performance Tracking issues: broken pallets; delivery appointment not emailed; carrier did not show up on the appointed day; carrier arrived after the appointed time; scheduled appointment piece count does not match BOL piece count includes unauthorized add-ons; driver did not assist during the unload process (if requested); unsafe load; and, inefficient load shall be waived only if one of the following conditions has been met: A supplier has been certified for collect shipping, has agreed to a formal collect Inbound freight program, and has utilized the supplier-specific preferred carrier matrix for the shipment(s) in question. or, A supplier has been certified for prepaid shipping with provisions for occasional freight collect orders, and has utilized the general preferred carrier matrix (the general published Guide ) for the shipment(s) in question.

5 Or, A supplier has received a contractual waiver from the United Stationers Supply Co. Merchandising team. As a reminder, certifications may only be provided by the Transportation Shared Services team. A standalone modification to the annual Supplier Allowance Program (SAP) does not constitute an Inbound supply chain review. Contact the team at Page 5 of 23 Shipping Documents Bill of Lading Each less-than-truckload (LTL) or truckload (TL) shipment must be accompanied by a Bill of Lading (also referred to as a BOL or B/L). Multiple orders shipped to a single facility on the same day must be consolidated on one Bill of Lading, regardless of different purchase order numbers. Bills of Lading must be completed in their entirety; including the total number of pieces and pallets, commodity descriptions, National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) codes (LTL only), and freight classes (LTL only).

6 In addition to this standard required information, each BOL must contain the following detail: Shipment Date: The date the carrier picks up the shipment. Note: Pre-dating Bills of Lading is a fraudulent practice. The document must always reflect the date that the order(s) actually shipped. Supplier Name ( Ship From ): Note: When utilizing a distribution or other third-party company to fulfill purchase orders, the shipper name must read as the supplier name provided in the purchase order c/o the distribution company name. : Write Brothers Pencils c/o American Distribution Shipper Address ( Ship From ): o The address where the product is actually shipping from (not necessarily the same as a corporate address). Destination Facility ( Ship To ): o United Stationers Supply Company + Facility # Note: In the case of an NL (non-listed) order, the Ship To party or Consignee will be the customer that is receiving the drop shipment.

7 Purchase Order Number(s) o All purchase orders shipped must be listed on the Bill of Lading. o Stock purchase orders are seven (7) characters in length (include leading zeros). o Not Listed (NL) orders will begin with NL or N followed by a six (6) character purchase order number. Page 6 of 23 Special Instructions (Include on every Bill of Lading) o Delivery Appointment Required o Appointment Requests Must Be Sent Via E-mail o Deliver Shipment Intact. DO NOT BREAK STRETCHWRAP o Floor-loaded freight must indicate Driver Assist Unload o Wheels Must Be Chocked or Dock Lock Engaged Before Unloading Trailer Seal Number (For truckload shipments only.) o A trailer seal must be applied to truckload shipments. o Record the seal number on the Bill of Lading. Billing Terms o Billing Terms for all collect shipments of stock purchase orders must be noted as follows: United Stationers Supply Co. % National Traffic Service 151 John James Audubon Parkway Amherst, NY 14228-1185 Page 7 of 23 Shipping Documents Packing List A legible copy of the packing list must accompany the Bill of Lading on all common carrier (LTL), truckload and consolidated shipments.

8 The original copy of the packing list should be located on the outside of the first pallet closest to the tail of the truck and in a highly visible position. This packing list must be removable. Never put the packing list inside a carton. Page 8 of 23 Mode Selection Quick Reference Mode is the method of transporting goods and materials from origin to destination based on the weight of the shipment and utilizing the most economical method to meet service requirements. Mode selection determines service times and the unit cost of transportation. The principle modes of transportation covered herein are: Small Package (Ground), Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and Truckload (TL). Details to follow, but the table below may serve as a quick shipping reference. Weight: 0 499 Lbs. 500 9,999 Lbs. 10,000+ Lbs. Mode: Small Package Less-Than-Truckload Full Truckload Carrier: United Parcel Service Refer to LTL Carrier Matrix Refer to TL Carrier Matrix Note: Please contact the United Stationers Supply Co.

9 Inbound Transportation team at with any concerns regarding shipping product with small package ground service (high proclivity for damage, large number of small cartons, etc.). In some cases, alternate Routing may be arranged. Page 9 of 23 Mode Selection Small Package Small Package Routing applies to shipments weighing from 0 499 pounds, shipping directly to a United Stationers Supply Co. facility, and which meet United Parcel Service s (UPS) shipping criteria. All packages shipping to a United Stationers Supply Co. facility must be marked as Third Party . Please contact the TSS team at for the Bill To account number. Girth, represented by number 1 on the diagram, is the total distance around the package or object at its widest point, perpendicular to the length. Length, represented by number 2 on the diagram, is the longest side of the package or object. Add the length and girth measurements together to get the total package size.

10 UPS has established specific weight and size limits for packages. The restrictions below only pertain to individual packages. o Packages may be up to 150 lbs. (70 kg). o Packages may be up to 130 (330 cm) in length and girth combined. o Packages may be up to 108 (270 cm) in length. o Packages that weigh more than 70 lbs. require a bright yellow UPS heavy package label. o For hazardous shipments, refer to the UPS Guide for Shipping Ground and Air Hazardous Materials at: o Refer to for any additional UPS shipping information, or contact United Parcel Service at 800-742-5877. Page 10 of 23 Mode Selection Less-Than-Truckload and Full Truckload Less-than-truckload (LTL) Routing applies to shipments weighing between 500 10,000 pounds, which occupy less than twelve (12) linear feet of trailer space. Please refer to the matrix in Appendix A. Match the shipment s origin state to the USSCo facility in order to determine the appropriate LTL carrier.
