2 Any deviations from the design standardsshall be noted and copies of the approvals for such devia-tions shall be attached to the written Permits. Permits shall be required as set forth in Sec-tions and Installation. fire PROTECTION SYSTEMS shall be maintainedin accordance with the original installation standards for thatsystem. Required SYSTEMS shall be extended, altered or aug-mented as necessary to maintain and continue protectionwhenever the building is altered, remodeled or added to. Alter-ations to fire PROTECTION SYSTEMS shall be done in accordancewith applicable Required fire PROTECTION SYSTEMS . fire protectionsystems required by this code or the International BuildingCode shall be installed, repaired, operated, tested and main-tained in accordance with this Nonrequired fire PROTECTION SYSTEMS . Any fireprotection system or portion thereof not required by thiscode or the International Building Code shall be allowed tobe furnished for partial or complete PROTECTION providedsuch installed system meets the applicable requirements ofthis code and the International Building fire areas.

3 Where buildings, or portions thereof,are divided into fire areas so as not to exceed the limitsestablished for requiring a fire PROTECTION system in accor-dance with this chapter, such fire areas shall be separatedby fire barriers constructed in accordance with Section 707of the International Building Code or horizontal assembliesconstructed in accordance with Section 711 of the Interna-tional Building Code, or both, having a fire -resistance ratingof not less than that determined in accordance with of the International Building Code. Additional fire PROTECTION SYSTEMS . In occupan-cies of a hazardous nature, where special hazards exist inaddition to the normal hazards of the occupancy, or wherethe fire code official determines that access for fire appara-tus is unduly difficult, the fire code official shall have theauthority to require additional safeguards. Such safeguardsinclude, but shall not be limited to, the following: automaticfire detection SYSTEMS , fire alarm SYSTEMS , automatic fire -extinguishing SYSTEMS , standpipe SYSTEMS , or portable orfixed extinguishers.

Nonrequired fire PROTECTION systemsand equipment shall be inspected, tested and maintained orremoved.

6 Standards. fire PROTECTION SYSTEMS shall beinspected, tested and maintained in accordance with the ref-erenced standards listed in Table Page 101 Wednesday, January 15, 2014 12:28 PMFIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS1022014 OREGON fire CODETABLE PROTECTION system MAINTENANCE Records. Records of all system inspections, testsand maintenance required by the referenced standardsshall be maintained on the premises for a minimum ofthree years and shall be copied to the fire code officialupon Records information. Initial records shallinclude the name of the installation contractor, type ofcomponents installed, manufacturer of the components,location and number of components installed per shall also include the manufacturers operationand maintenance instruction manuals. Such recordsshall be maintained on the SYSTEMS out of service. Where a required fire protec-tion system is out of service, the fire department and the firecode official shall be notified immediately and, whererequired by the fire code official, the building shall either beevacuated or an approved fire watch shall be provided for alloccupants left unprotected by the shutdown until the fire pro-tection system has been returned to utilized, fire watches shall be provided with at leastone approved means for notification of the fire departmentand their only duty shall be to perform constant patrols of theprotected premises and keep watch for Impairment coordinator.

7 The building ownershall assign an impairment coordinator to comply with therequirements of this section. In the absence of a specificdesignee, the owner shall be considered the Tag required. A tag shall be used to indicate thata system , or portion thereof, has been removed from Placement of tag. The tag shall be posted at eachfire department connection, system control valve, firealarm control unit, fire alarm annunciator and fire com-mand center, indicating which system , or part thereof, hasbeen removed from service.
