HP Common Access card Solution Manage your imaging and printing environment with a Solution designed specifically for government agencies. Rigorous security is a way of life for government agencies around the world. Stringent security requirements on what could be considered routine office processes, such as printing, photocopying and scanning, add complexity to the day to day work environment. In today s new security environment, smart card credentials for facilities or data Access are only the beginning. At the same time, these agencies face the challenge of increasingly mobile users that require Access to printing and imaging devices in remote locations across the network.

Perhaps you ve asked yourself these questions: What is our plan for mitigating risks associated with document and information workflows? Can I track the input and output of critical agency data? How can I be sure sensitive documents are accounted for and traceable within the agency? Are electronic communications and information reaching the appropriate person and imaging and printing device? Where can I go for help in figuring out what needs to be done to make sure we are meeting requirements? HP is introducing an imaging and printing Solution that supports Common Access card technologies to authenti cate users to the network. The HP Common Access card Solution provides authentication with enhanced security features for your scanning and printing environment and is backed by HP output management hardware, software and services capabilities.

What s more, it supports reliable, efficient and cost effective delivery of documents. HP Common Access card Solution a reliable response to global regulatory requirements The HP Common Access card Solution , powered by our enhanced multi function products, is helping government agencies optimize the IT infrastructure by supporting cap ture and output of digital content with advanced security features. Traditionally, secure imaging and printing devices relied on the user entering a PIN or e mail address for authentication. These are one factor types of authentication, using something known to the user. The HP Common Access card Solution is two factor authenti cation, requiring CAC PIN entry as well as possession of a valid smart card and data, like certificates, contained on the card .

The Common Access card Solution uses the latest public key infrastructure (PKI) technology including, for example, Kerberos authentication using a non revoked CAC certificate, and retrieval of user attributes directly from an active directory to verify the user not only at the output device but across the agency s network as well. When a user needs to scan a document to e mail message or folder, the HP Common Access card Solution requires the user to be authenticated. In many cases authentication is provided by the same card the employ ee uses to Access the building and work area. Once authenticated, the imaging and printing device will allow the user to scan to e mail, or scan to a network folder.

A nimble Solution to output management In a constantly changing security landscape, you need a Solution that can allow your agency to respond quickly to new threats. We ve designed the HP Common Access card Solution to employ today s leading security technologies and services while being flexible enough to adopt next generation encryption and authentication capabilities. As government agencies adopt the more rig orous standards, such as the Personal Identity Verification or PIV II standards for facility, data and information secu rity, the HP Common Access card infrastructure will be ready to integrate these technologies to help you manage your agency s document and information workflow more effectively and with advanced security features.
