Summative Assessments: Tests These exams are cumulative for everything we have learned up to that point with an emphasis on the last topic covered. For SL 12, these exams will also cover a topic from SL 11. Retests may be offered individually or to the whole class at teacher discretion. Midterm This exam occurs in December before semester break. This will cover all topics to that point of the class. There will be no retakes on this exam. Formative Assessments: Quizzes - The quizzes will occur after every chapter in the book; there will also be skills checks throughout the unit.

6 Skills Check are five-question skill based problems that are graded 50% to 100% and sometimes offer bonus points. Classwork/Homework Homework is collected on quiz and test days, the work must be shown to get full credit. Any in-class activities such as Problem of the Days and Group Assignments will be counted in the classwork/homework category. IA Checkpoints As students work on their internal assessments, the checkpoints are graded and placed in IA checkpoints. Final: SL 11 students will take a final exam in May and the SL 12 students will turn in their Internal Assessment: Math Exploration for their final grade. VIII. IB Examinations External Assessment: Paper 1 40% No Calculator Allowed A.

Internal Assessment: Mathematical Exploration 20% All students are expected to do an exploration in Mathematics . This assessment will account for 20% of the final DP SL grade. Each student will choose a topic on interest and write a report. The exploration will be graded using an IB DP rubric with a focus on communication, mathematical presentation, personal engagement, reflection, use of Mathematics . The portfolio is internally assessed by the teacher and externally moderated by the IBO. Both of the examinations occur in the last 9 weeks of SL 12.

8 IX. Academic Honesty Please refer to the DCHS Academic Honesty policy as well as the IB Performance and Continuation Policy. Students are expected to be honest in class regarding their work and preparation for class.
