6 SAP AGManaging Special Stocks (MM-IM)Company s Own Special StocksApril 20017 Company s Own Special StocksDefinitionStocks belonging to your company that are stored with the vendor or the the R/3 System the following types of company s own Special Stocks are available: Stock of material provided to vendor Consignment stock at customer Returnable packaging stock at customerSince these Special Stocks are not located at your own company, they are managed at plant leveland not at storage location stock types are possible: Unrestricted-use stock Quality inspection stockAll stock types can be of Material Provided to VendorThese are your company's own Stocks that you provide to the vendor (subcontractor) tomanufacture a product you have ordered. However, this stock is still your company's stock is available for Materials goods movements for materials provided to vendor are described in Subcontracting [Page27].

7 Consignment Stock at CustomerThis is consignment material belonging to your company that is stored with the customer. Thisstock is not available for materials Inventory Management, you can post the following goods movements (with reversal): Initial entry of stock balances (movement types 561, 563) Transfer posting from plant to plant in one step (301) Transfer posting from material to material (309; also refer to Entering Transfer Postings fromMaterial to Material [Ext.])Other goods movements are processed using the Sales (SD-SLS) component. See also: Managing Consignment Stocks [Ext.].Returnable Packaging Stock at CustomerThis is packaging materials or means of transport (for example, pallets or crates) which aresupplied by your company to a customer and must be returned. SAP AGManaging Special Stocks (MM-IM)Externally-Owned Special StocksApril 20019 Externally-Owned Special StocksDefinitionExternally-owned Special Stocks belonging to a vendor or customer that are stored at the R/3 System the following types of externally-owned Special Stocks are available: Vendor consignment Returnable transport packaging Sales order stock Project stockSince these Special Stocks are located at your company, they are managed at storage Special Stocks can be allocated to three different stock types: Unrestricted-use stock Quality inspection stock Blocked stockAll stock types can be ConsignmentThis type of stock comprises consignment material belonging to the vendor that is stored on Stocks from the vendor are available for Movements for consignment Stocks from the vendor are described in the sectionConsignment [Page 13].

9 Returnable Transport Packaging (RTP)Multi-trip packaging medium (such as pallets or containers) in which goods can be transportedbetween vendors and customers. It is the property of the vendor and is therefore not included inthe customer s valuated Movements for returnable transport packaging are described in Returnable TransportPackaging [Page 74].Sales Order StockStock that is used for a sales order. It is directly allocated to a sales order. Components can onlybe used to produce material ordered by the customer and the finished product can only bedelivered to the customer via the sales order stock is explained in Sales Order Stock [Page 86]. Upon delivery, the goods ordered belong to the customer's Special procurement, the goods are not necessarily delivered from the vendor to the third-party processing, for example, the ordered material is delivered directly from the vendorto a customer of the customer. In stock transfer processing a material is procured internally andtransported from a storage location to the location where it is following Special procurement types exist in the R/3 System: Consignment Subcontracting Stock Transfer Using Stock Transport Order Third-Party Processing Returnable Transport Packaging Pipeline HandlingConsignmentWhen buying goods on consignment, the ordered goods still belong to the vendor, even afterdelivery.
