04/25/2018. MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING . OF THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL - TOWNSHIP OF EDISON. April 25, 2018. A REGULAR MEETING of the Municipal Council was held in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. The MEETING was called to order at 7:05 by Council President Patil followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Present were Councilmembers Coyle, Diehl, Gomez, Joshi, Lombardi, Patil, and Sendelsky. Also present were Township Clerk Russomanno, Deputy Township Clerk McCray, Township Attorney Northgrave, Business Administrator Ruane, Health Inspector Spearnock, Police Captain Formica, Fire Chief Latham and Cameraman Cologna. The Township Clerk advised that adequate notice of this MEETING , as required by the Open Public Meetings Act of 1975, has been provided by an Annual Notice sent to The Home News Tribune, The Star Ledger, and the Sentinel on December 9, 2017 and posted in the Main Lobby of the Municipal Complex on the same date.

2 APPROVAL OF MINUTES : On a motion made by Councilmember Sendelsky seconded by Councilmember Lombardi duly carried, the MINUTES of the Worksession of April 9, 2018 and REGULAR MEETING of April 11, 2018 were accepted as submitted. COUNCIL PRESIDENT'S REMARKS. Council President Patil announced Events as follows, April 29th, Sunday, CARE Walk at Edison High School check in a 9:00am walk starts at 10:00am, May 3 rd in Council Chambers at 7:00pm the final Public Forum on the Community Center, May 5th the Red Cross will be in South Edison form 11:00am -3:00pm installing free smoke alarms, May 5th, Clara Barton will be doing their 3rd Annual Yard Sale form 8:00am . 3:00pm, May 14th There will be a new DMV office opening at 5000 Hadley Avenue, South Pla9infield and May 20th Family Day at Lake Papananni. RESOLUTIONS OF RECOGNITION: The following Resolutions were read in its entirety: RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Joseph Anton Guchek, Sr.

3 , is a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a Life member of Edison Township VFW Post #3117 of which he had served as the Quartermaster and Adjutant for approximately 20 years. WHEREAS, Joe was drafted into the Army in 1966. After basic training he served in the 25 th Infantry Division at Cu Chi in Vietnam, 27th Infantry Regiments, Charlie Company , 1st Platoon as Rifleman, Team Leader, Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant. WHEREAS, while Joe served in Vietnam he was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart and Army Commendation Medal with V devise, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal, two Overseas bars and two Combat bars. WHEREAS, Joe was awarded the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal along with the New Jersey Vietnam Service Medal. WHEREAS, Joe has also served as VFW District 8 Middlesex County Quartermaster and Historian and Department of New Jersey Photographer.

4 WHEREAS, Joe is also a member of American Legion, AMVETS, Disabled American Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of America Military order of Purple Heart, Nam Knights Motorcycle Club Patriot Brothers Chapter of Edison New Jersey, which he currently serves as President. WHEREAS, Joe and his wife Carol have five children and seven grandchildren. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE. TOWNSHIP OF EDISON, NEW JERSEY AS FOLLOWS: The Municipal Council hereby recognizes Joseph Anton Guchek, Sr. for his service to our country, commitment and dedication to all our Veterans. 1. 04/25/2018. Council President Patil opened the MEETING for public comment on Resolution of Recognition 042018. Lois Wolke, 10 Peake Road, as always thank you to our service men. Fred Wolke, 10 Peak Road, now most of our World War II Veterans have been recognized, it's time for Vietnam Veterans to be recognized.

5 Thank you again for all you have done for us. Esther Nemitz, 162B Fay Street, thank you so much you desire to be honored. Hearing no further comments, on a motion made by Councilmember Sendelsky seconded by Councilmember Gomez and duly carried, this Public Hearing was closed. On a motion made by Councilmember Sendelsky, seconded by Councilmember Lombardi to adopt Resolution Councilmember Lombardi, thank you for all you did for our country, the Township of Edison is proud. Council Vice President Sendelsky, thank you for your service to our country. Because of the sacrifice you made we have our freedom. The Township, State and Country are proud. Councilmember Diehl, Congratulations on your resolution as everyone has said we are very proud. You have a very impressive list of awards and honors. You represent all the veterans who cannot be here. Councilmember Coyle, Thank you for your service and sacrifice this council never forgets.

6 Thank you for our freedom. Councilmember Gomez, thank you words cannot express our gratitude it's an honor to stand with you today. AYES - Councilmembers Coyle, Diehl, Gomez, Joshi, Lombardi, Sendelsky, and Council President Patil NAYS None Council President Patil presented this Resolution. Council President Patil, Edison Township Mayor and Council appreciates veterans who fought for freedom and have risked their lives to protect millions of people and keep us safe. You have served this nation and continue to serve the Edison community. You are a true hero for all of us. I think that for the rest of our lives, you should be respected as much as possible and be treated well. Once again, thank you for giving me the opportunity to honor and recognize you, Congratulations. Joe Guchek, thanked Mayor Lankey and this Council for their continued support of VFW Post 3117. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, in October 2017, the Edison High School Drama Club ( Drama Club ) participated in the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park Trail of Horror; and WHEREAS, the following students are members of the Drama Club and participated in this event: Michaela Hamaid (Senior- Organizer).

7 Gianna Pecorella (Senior). Katie Sowers (Senior). Dylan Resendiz (Senior). Alyssa Totten (Senior). Joshua Schonberger (Senior). Emily Kovacs (Senior). 2. 04/25/2018. Samantha Belle (Junior). Sydney Gold (Junior). Danielle Sabin (Junior). Michael Pecorella (Junior). Alyssa Scott (Junior). Katie Eagle (Junior). Pat Debnath (Sophomore). Lucy Knox (Sophomore). Madison Goode (Sophomore). Nathan Nitkowski (Freshman). Olivia Chiarella (Freshman). Nicholas Santiago (Freshman). Melodi Wheeler (Freshman); and WHEREAS, they performed skits from famous horror movies, including Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho and Stephen King's It and The Shining; and WHEREAS, the Drama Club prepared their own scenery and costumes for the event, and acted out famous scenes from these horror movies; and WHEREAS, these skits were broadcast on Edison TV, and the Mayor, members of the Municipal Council and members of the Middlesex County Board of Freeholders participated in the Trail of Horror.

8 And WHEREAS, the Drama Club Parents also deserve thanks and recognition for supporting their children throughout this tremendous project; and WHEREAS, the Drama Club's dedication and teamwork contributed significantly to their successful participation in the Trail of Horror; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE. TOWNSHIP OF EDISON, NEW JERSEY AS FOLLOWS: The Municipal Council hereby recognizes the Drama Club and their moderators on the on their participation in the Trail of Horrors and on their continued commitment to scholastic achievement. Council President Patil opened the MEETING for public comment on Resolution of Recognition 042018. None Hearing no further comments, on a motion made by Councilmember Diehl seconded by Councilmember Gomez and duly carried, this Public Hearing was closed. On a motion made by Councilmember Sendelsly seconded by Councilmember Diehl to adopt Resolution Councilmember Gomez, this event was amazing very well choreographed.

9 Thank you for your dedication stay involved. Councilmember Diehl, Congratulations, Halloween is not just for children. I think it is the 2nd biggest money maker in the United States, people like to get involved. Great Job. Councilmember Lombardi, congratulations to all recipients. He went through the trail everyone stayed in character. Thanks also to the parents whom must be very proud and helped raise money for the tower. Councilmember Coyle, thank you all for your hard work. He runs events, its a lot of work. It takes weeks of practice and I hope you have encouraged others, Councilmember Joshi, it not just the participation each one of you took a step further to give back to your community. Council President Patil, Congratulations, participation in a Drama Club is not everyone cup of tea, Job Well Done. Council Vice President Sendelsky, along with Freeholder Charlie Tomaro and John Zemkoski of Thomas Edison Tower presented Resolution to the Drama Club.

10 Council Vice President Sendelsky, Thank you students and parents for participation in the Edison Trail of Horror for the last two years. This past year we had 500 very scared people pass through the Edison, including Mayor Lankey, Councilmembers and Freeholders. As Chairman of the Thomas Edison Center 3. 04/25/2018. and Councilmember we are honored and your town is very proud of your hard work and great job! Along with the Resolutions of Recognition for each of you we have a $ donation for the Drama club.
