9 You can use the procedure below to select either onesecond or three seconds as the display illuminationduration. When you press L, the display will remainilluminated for about one second or three seconds,depending on the current display illumination specify the display illumination durationIn the Timekeeping Mode, hold down C for about two seconds to toggle the displayillumination duration between three seconds (3" displayed) and one second (3" notdisplayed). Pressing C also toggles between 12-hour and 24-hour timekeeping. When the three-second setting is selected, the three-second (3") indicator remainson the display in all modes.

10 To protect against running down the watch s battery, the watch automaticallyswitches to the one-second setting about seven hours after the three-second settingis selected.
