1 Papcun, James James J. Papcun, 53, of Des Moines, formerly of Melrose, died Feb. 11, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Albia to Michael D. and Grace M. Lahart Papcun. He is survived by a brother, Edward M. of Newton. Funeral services will be at 10 Thursday, Feb. 14, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose, the Rev. Scott Lemaster officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose. 2 Papcun, 53, of Des Moines, formerly of Melrose, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10 Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002 at St. Patrick s Catholic Church in Melrose, Rev. Scott Lemaster officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose. He was born Dec. 15, 1948, to Michael D. and Grace M. Lahart Papcun. He was a graduate of Albia High School, class of 1967. After high school he worked at Case Manufacturing in Moline, Ill., for a short time and then worked at Maytag in Newton.
3 In January of 1968 he was involved in an automobile accident north of Albia that left him as a quadriplegic. He was a member of St. Patrick s Catholic Church in Melrose. He is survived by one brother, Edward M. Papcun of Newton and two aunts, Kay McGee and Irene Crall, both of Albia. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will begin after 9 Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002 at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with the family present from 6-8 , Wednesday evening. A rosary service will be held at 7 , Wednesday evening.
