He was born of Michael and Susanna (Majersky) Pavlik in Cherry, Illinois. George grew up in Melrose, Iowa and was a proud member of the 1937 Iowa high school state basketball championship team. He served his country during WWII in the North African Theater with the Army Air Corp 82nd Squadron, 12th Bomb Group (Earthquakers). On May 16, 1947, George was united in marriage to Virginia Erlene Houser.

2 He graduated from Drake University in 1948, and worked with State Auto Insurance before following his entrepreneurial dreams. George is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife; daughters, Susan (Alan) Loots of Clive, Marcy Pavlik of Houston, Becky (John) Heger of Indianapolis, and Mindy (Dave) Youngren of Boone; brother John Pavlik of Los Angeles; granddaughter, Natalie; grandsons, Alex, Jake, Drew, Loren, Max and Grant; as well as three great-grandchildren. He left his loved ones with memories of his sense of humor and love for nature and the Iowa countryside.

3 Graveside funeral service and burial, arranged by Schmidt Family Funeral Homes, were held September 21st at the Mt. Ararat Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa with Fr. Dennis Schaab officiating. Memorial services will be held Friday afternoon at St. Theresa's church in Des Moines. Remembrances may be made to Wesley Adult Day Services or Kavanagh House Hospice of Central Iowa.
