6 Training mustinclude, but not be limited to, informationregarding the effect on platform capacity andstability resulting from the attachment ofequipment to the platform guard rail or to theboom of the aerial lift, and hazards associatedwith this application. All operating instructions and warningscontained in the operator s Manual , SafetyManual and Manual of Responsibilities, and ondecals found on the particular Genie aerial lift, must be followed. The aerial lift must be operated only on a firm, level surface. Operators must be trained and be able todemonstrate proficiency in the operation of thespecific model of Genie aerial lift beingoperated. Genie booms are not insulated. Precautionsshall be taken to protect the operator and peopleon the ground from electrocution hazards.

7 Theattachment of power supply cables to the boomshall not restrict the movement of the aerial liftor endanger the operator or people on theground. Attachment of power supply cables to the boomshall be accomplished in a manner that doesnot cause a tip-over hazard due to a side orvertical force that could result in the machinebecoming unstable. Power supply cables must be attached to theend of each boom section in a manner thatensures the cable cannot be damaged fromtensioning, pinching or crushing when the boomis operated. LDFs hung from the platform guard rail must notbe rigidly attached in any manner that couldcause or impose a side or vertical load fromwind or contact with adjacent objects greaterthan the rated side load posted at the entranceto the platform .

8 Attachment of LDFs and rope to the platformshall be accomplished in a manner that doesnot cause a tip-over hazard due to a side orvertical force that could result in the machinebecoming unstable. The combined weight of platform attachments, power supply cables, mounting hardware, platform occupant(s), tools and equipment mustin all cases remain less than the maximumrated platform capacity. Use the platformcapacity reduction chart found in thissupplement to determine allowable platformload. The number and size of attachments must belimited by consideration of the maximumallowable wind speed and the surface area ofplatform attachments. Use the wind speed chartfound in this Supplement to determine maximumallowable wind speed. Information regarding the attachment of LDFsand lighting and camera equipment shall besupplied only to trained union must be familiar with thesesupplemental instructions and warnings beforethey are allowed to operate any Genie boomthat is approved for this RULES6 Part No.
