If required, alternative primers such as AMERCOAT 370ZP, AMERCOAT 471, AMERCOAT. 182 ZPK, AMERCOAT 385P, AMERCOAT 307 may be used with this product, depending on conditions. AMERCOAT CC24, AMERCOAT 385 may be used as the second coat, depending on circumstances. For severe conditions 2nd coat may be replaced by AMERCOAT 472 100-250 um. Acid etching is an acceptable alternative in some cases General Data Weathering Excellent. Finish High Gloss . Chemical Resistance Very good. Solvent Resistance Excellent. Abrasion Resistance Excellent. Immersed Conditions Not recommended. Temperature Range Up to 120 dry heat.

Colours Most colours available. Topcoating Not required Shelf Life 12 months from date of shipment if stored indoors at 4 C to 38 C Base and Hardener. Application Data Theoretical AMERCOAT 450N covers approximately 11 square metres per litre to give a dry film thickness of Coverage 40 m. (Wet film thickness 95 m). Material losses during mixing and application will vary and must be considered when estimating job requirements. Volume Solids 2% (varies with colour). (theoretical). Drying Times Touch dry in 30 minutes. Hard dry 24 hours. Full cure may take 5 days minimum. Curing will be (25 C, 50% ) unduly long below 4 C. Do not apply when over 80%. Recoating Time Recoat within the pot life or after 24 hours.

Aged films must be free of chalk and dirt before (@ 25 C) recoating. Mix Ratio 3 parts base to 1 part hardener. Pot Life (@ 25 C) 4 hours. Thinning THINNER 300. (THINNER 539 may be used for hot windy conditions). Method Mix AMERCOAT 450N by power stirring Base then mix in Hardener. Allow to stand 15 minutes. Suitable for application by conventional or airless spray. For conventional spray, use pressure pot unit with DeVilbiss JGA 502 gun, FF fluid tip and needle, 704 air cap or equivalent with 10mm fluid line 60-105 kPa (10-15 psi) pot pressure and 370-450. kPa (55-65 psi) atomising pressure. Thin up to 20% by volume with THINNER 300. When applying Polyurethane finishes, particular care should be taken to ensure that the air supply is completely free of moisture, as this can cause bubbles in the paint film.

For airless spray: Add 5% v/v THINNER 300 to the mixed product. Spray through 13-15 thou (325- 375 m) tip using 10-14 MPa. Handling THE HARDENER AND THE MIXED PAINT CONTAIN FREE ORGANIC ISOCYANATES. Read and understand all warnings and instructions on the cans before opening. Read the Material Safety Data Sheet before using this product. All mixing and handling of this paint must be carried out under working conditions that prevent skin contact or inhalation of vapours or spray mist. Breathing of mist or vapour is harmful and may cause lung irritation and asthma-like reaction. Irritates skin and eyes. During application, provide adequate fresh air ventilation. If applying by spray, wear a positive pressure air-supplied respirator.

Spray application should be carried out in a ventilated booth fitted with an effective filtered exhaust system. If spraying on site, ensure that equal protection is afforded to the applicator and that all other people nearby are prevented from breathing the vapours or spray mist. Wear impervious gloves. Materials are flammable. Keep away from fire or naked flame. Keep away from children. If swallowed, call a Doctor or Poisons Information Centre. If affected by inhalation of vapours or spray mist, remove to fresh air. If breathing difficulties persist or occur later, consult a Doctor and have label information available. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for 15 minutes and call a Doctor.

In case of skin contact, remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. Immerse contaminated clothing in water for 24 hours and do not reuse until it has been laundered. NOTE: The figures quoted for pot life and drying/curing times are not definitive. They are dependent on site conditions, such as volume of material mixed, ambient and steel temperatures, weather and ventilation.
