By using microprocessor technology it ensures that thecollected energy from the sun is transferred efficiently and harnessed under optimumconditions, while providing valuable information with clarity and ease of use for smt 100 controller provides the following functions:SUMMARY OF FEATURES Digital display of collector (manifold) temperature.

Digital display of differential temperature. Digital display of tank (cylinder) temperature. Precise pump control for efficient heat collection. Auxiliary (tank) thermostat for heat boosting or re-routing excess heat. Anti-frost over-ride for system protection. Maximum and minimum temperature recorded for collector, return and : The Collector, Tank, and Actual temperatures (temperature differencebetween the Collector and Return temperatures) are viewed when the keypad lock isengaged. The keypad lock must be disengaged to set TC, TT, and .Note: The information supplied in this manual is for guidance only - no part of thismay be used for any agreement, whether express or implied, or to form any reserves the right to change specifications without prior 2 INSTALLATIONNOTE: This installation procedure is for guidance only, and the installer shouldverify its is assumed that the solar equipment is physically installed and tested, and is readyfor operation and connection to the electric PRECAUTIONSThe following safety precautions are strongly recommended.

1 Before attempting to install and operate the unit read this instruction and any maintenance required should only be carried out bysuitably qualified is recommended that the unit be connected to the mains supply via asuitably rated isolating : When the unit is connected to the mains supply and the cover isopened, circuits at mains voltage will be exposed. Therefore when installingthe unit ensure all required connections (including battery connection, ifincluded), are made and covers replaced before turning on the mains that all the connections made are secure. If any maintenance installing a new battery, is required ensure that the unit is isolated fromthe mains supply before removing the cover.

Never leave the unit unattendedif the cover has been removed and the mains supply is not exceed unit ratings as shown on the ratings is advisable to route mains cables away from low voltage or sensor 100 UNITNOTE: For viewing comfort, the control box should be positioned at eyelevel. It is always good practice to keep electronic controls away fromextremes of cold, heat and electrical plant, as extremes of temperature mayreduce the lifetime of the device, and heavy electrical loads, switches, relaysor contractors too close to the device may cause electrical and electro-magnetic interference when switched on or off. It is also recommended thatfor clear visibility, the device should be installed away from direct sunlight.

(Inthe case of a complete pump-control unit , the control box is the two side restraining screws at both sides of the the Top , controller -section from the Connecting base 3If your cables are to enter the enclosure from behind the unit, then knock outthe appropriate entries in the base of the SMT the base of the enclosure to mark the four corner mounting base and drill all necessary holes in the wall or mounting supply cables, heating pumps and auxiliary output according to thewiring diagrams shown in section are three temperature sensors, collector, tank and return. Ifrequired, sensors are available with extended cable lengths or alternatively, sensor extenders are available, also in a variety of lengths.)

If the sensorsneed to be extended but factory-made extenders are not available, they canbe extended using a suitable 4 core or 3-core cable, according to the diagramshown with all PT100 sensor applications, a good connection is vital. It istherefore recommended that wherever there is any doubt, a factory-extendedsensor or a sensor extender should be CONNECTIONS AND WIRING DIAGRAMNote: This device should be properly earthed. Flexible wires simplifyconnection to the terminals. All connections should be secure andadequately tightened, though not over-tightened, as loose powerconnections will over-heat, and may cause fire. It is important that thespecified output loads are not exceeded.

Where these loads may beexceeded, external contactors should be used. It is good practice to keepmains cables away from sensor cables and other low voltage signal : If the outputs from the Auxiliary relay are required to drive a heater witha current rating greater than 3A then a contactor should be can supply an intermediate device, which may be connected tothe smt 100 to drive an auxiliary load of up to 16A - Part No: ONE PUMP SYSTEMIn this configuration, when the tank temperature is below the set-point,TT, the AUX. relay is energised, and when rises above TT, the AUX. relayis de-energised (see smt 100 Diagram).1 Connect the output terminal of the AUX. relay to the auxiliary heater or to acontactor (external relay) if the heater has a greater current rating than is illustrated in the diagram below:2 Connect the pump cable to the PUMP terminals of the control the neutral (N) of the auxiliary heater or contactor, to the suppliedneutral terminal block on the power the mains supply to the terminals marked the earth to the pump and contactor (if applicable).

Replace the top section of the control unit, and then fasten using the twoside fixing screws. The unit is now ready to be powered < TT : = ONWhen > TT : = PUMP CASCADE SYSTEMIn this configuration will run when the tank temperature is below theset point TT, and Pump will run (Pump will switch off) when risesabove a link between L terminal of the PUMP relay and the commonterminal C of the AUX relay, (see cascade diagram).2 Connect and (see cascade diagram)3 Connect the mains supply to the terminals marked MAINS4 Connect the earth to the the top section of the control unit, and then fasten using the twoside fixing screws. The unit is now ready to be powered < TC: = OFF;= OFFWhen > TC : If < TT:: = ON; = OFFand - > If > TT:: = OFF; = NORMAL AUX HEAT EXTRACTIONWhen < TC: = OFF; = OFFWhen > TC:If < TT:: = ON; = OFFand - > If > TT:: = ON; = ONExtracting excess heat or diverting excess CIRCUITS1 Example of solar hot water system with electric auxiliary heater.

An externaltimer (switch-on time for example from 1700 to 1900) should govern theauxiliary heater and the thermostat switch set at TT. This means theimmersion will be activated only if the temperature of the tank (hot watercylinder) at 1700 hours is lower than the set : If the outputs from the Auxiliary relay are required to drive a heaterwith a current rating greater than 3A than a contactor should be can supply an intermediate device, which may be connected tothe smt 100 to drive an auxiliary load of up to 16A Part No. of a solar hot water system gas or oil auxiliary heating. Logic as of solar hot water system with two users. is the main solarstorage tank, which has an auxiliary heater as in 1 and 2.
