Walmart’s profits during the period 1972-2008. During this period Walmart had three CEOs: Sam Walton (until 1988), David Glass (from 1988 to 2000), and Lee Scott (from 2000). We find that input and output prices, technological progress, and the level of activity played different roles across the three CEOs.
