S. yu N u / 5 University of PuneSyllabi for the Three-Year Integrated DegreeCourseSecond Year Degree Course will consist of three First Year Annual Examination shall be held at the endof the First Year. The Second Year Annual Examinationshall be held at the end of the Second Year.
3 The Third YearAnnual Examination shall be held at the end of the ThirdYear.( 1 ) No candidate shall be admitted to enter upon the FirstYear of Course unless he has passed the HigherSecondary School Certificate Examination of theMaharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Edu-cation or an equivalent examination of any other Statu-tory Board or University with English as a passingsubject.( 2 ) No candidate shall be admitted to the annualexamination of the First Year unless he hassatisfactorily kept two terms for the course at thecollege affiliated to this University.( 3 ) No candidate shall be admitted to the annualexamination of the Second Year unless he haskept two terms satisfactorily for the same at thecollege affiliated to this / 6( 4 ) No candidate shall be admitted Third Yearexamination of the Course unless he has passedin all the papers at the First Year Examinationand has satisfactorily kept the term for the SecondYear and also two terms for the Third Year of in a college affiliated to this of Arts ( )( I ) The student joining the First year B.

Course shalloffer six subjects as follows :( i ) The student can offer not more than one subjectfrom one group.( ii) Subject Group A is compulsory.(iii) The student has to offer at least one languagefrom Group B or Group C or Group J .(iv) The student may offer one more subject fromGroup B or Group C subject to (i) student may offer Optional English from Group J alone or in combination with one language from othergroup B or Group C .Group A : Compulsory B : Marathi, French, German, Sindhi, Gujarathi,Urdu, C : Hindi, Persian, Sanskrit, Ardhamagadhi, Pali, D : E : F :History, Cultural Anthropology, / 7 Group G : Logic and Methodology of Science, Geography,Music, Public H : Psychology, Gandhian Thought, I :History of Civilization, Home Economics,Defence Studies, Social J : Linguistics, Commerce, Education, IndustrialMathematics, Mathematical Statistics,Optional K :Mathematics, Statistical Pre-requisites,Sociology, L :Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Mathe-matical Pre-requisites, Applied Statistics,Ancient Indian History and M : Adult Education.
5 ( II) In the Second Year, the student shall decide whetherhe want so study for the (General) or the (Special) Degree :(a)( i ) The student studying for the (General)Degree shall study the following subjectsin the Second Year :( 1 ) Compulsory English.(2-6) Same five subjects offered in the FirstYear.( ii) The student studying for the (General)Degree shall study the following subjectsin the Third Year :( 1 ) Compulsory English.(2-6) Same five subjects offered in the Firstand Second / 8(b)( i ) The student studying for the (Special)Degree shall study the following subjectsin the Second Year :( 1 ) Compulsory English.(2-4) One paper each at General level ofthe three subjects chosen out of thefive subjects offered in the First Year.
6 (5-6) Two papers at Special level of onesubject the chosen as a SpecialSubject out of the three subjectsoffered at General level.( ii) The student studying for the (Special) Degree shall study thefollowing subjects in the Third Year :( 1 ) Compulsory English.(2-4) One Paper each at General Level ofthe three subjects offered in theSecond Year.(5-6) Two Papers at the Special level of thesubject chosen as a Special subjectin the Second Year.(c)Normally, students are not allowed to change thesubject at the second or third year offered by himat the first year. However, as a very specialcase, a student may be allowed to offer aspecial subject at the Second Year, even thoughhe may not have offered the same at the firstyear.
7 In such case he should have passed his firstexamination in all the papers and he will have tocomplete the first year paper in that newsubject at the second year before he goes to thethird year. No change of subject will be allowedat the Third / 9(III) Examinations :At the end of the year there shall be Annual Exami-nation . The Annual Examination of each subject will be of100 marks. The Annual Examination will be of three hours duration.(IV) Practical Examination :The practical examination will be of 100 marks andwill be held only at the end of the year. There shall be noTerm End Practical examination the practical examinationwherever laid down will be conducted before the commence-ment of the Annual (Theory) College where the practical examination centre islocated, will take the responsibility of arranging thepractical examination.
8 (V) Standard of Passing :The candidate who has secured at least 40 marks outof 100 in the Annual Examination shall be declared to havepassed in the paper.(VI) Award of Class :The class should be awarded to the student onthe aggregate marks obtained by him at the First YearExamination and in respect of and Degree onthe aggregate marks in the Second Year and Third YearExamination and in respect of degree on the aggregatemarks obtained during the Second Year and the Third Year,in the Principal subject only. The award of class shall beas follows / 10( 1 ) Aggregate 70% and aboveFirst Class withDistinction( 2 ) Aggregate 60% and aboveFirst Class( 3 ) Aggregate 55% and moreHigher Second Classbut less than 60%( 4 ) Aggregate 50% and moreSecond Classbut less than 55%( 5 ) Aggregate 40% and morePass Classbut less than 50%( 6 ) Below 40%FailUniversity Terms :The dates for the commencement and conclusion of thefirst and second terms shall be determined by theUniversity authorities.
9 The terms can be kept by only dulyadmitted students. The present relevant ordinances pertain-ing to grant of terms will be of the Question Papers :( 1 ) The courses of studies will indicate in the syllabus theportion to be taught during the first term and thesecond term.( 2 ) A candidate shall have the option of answering thequestions in any of the subjects other than languageseither in Marathi or in English.( 3 ) In the case of languages, question shall be answeredin the media as indicated below except those questionswhich require translation into particular language / 11 LanguagesMediaSanskrit, Pali, ArdhamagadhiThe same languageor English or MarathiPersianPersian, Urdu or EnglishMarathi, Gujarathi, Kannada,The same languageUrdu, Hindi, EnglishFrench, GermanThe same language candidate taking the courses for First Year orSecond Year Examination as the case may be, may bepermitted by the Principal of the College to change any ofthe subjects in the course selected by him for particular yearbefore the commencement of the second term.
10 Suchcandidates are required to pay Rs. 25/- towards change ofsubject fees to the :( 1 ) A candidate who has been permitted to enter upon thecourse for the Second Year examination wishingto change his optional subject or subjects at the yearexamination in which he has failed shall be allowed todo so for the purpose. He will be required to keep twoadditional terms, for the changed subject for the firstyear and he will be required to appear and pass thesubject for the changed subject.( 2 ) The candidate after having kept regular terms for theSecond Year and admitted to Third Year will not beallowed to change the subject of the Second Year orthe Third / 12An application (which must be in the prescribed formand accompanied by the prescribed fee) for admissionto any of the examination of Degree Course shallbe forwarded by a candidate to the Registrar throughthe Principal of the College attended by him on orbefore the prescribed date alongwith the certificate fromthe Principal (1) of his having attended the course andkept the terms according to provision of and the various subjects and of having satisfied the otherconditions laid down by the University, and (2)
