Product layout systems are used effectively for the economic production of high volume goods. The advantages of these systems are: 1) large batches can be produced inexpensively, 2) material handling is minimal, 3) in-process materials are minimized, 4) it is easy to control these systems, and 5) automation is more achievable and justifiable.
