8 When thefire-resistance ratingdetermined in accordance with this exception exceeds thefire-resistance ratingdetermined in accordance with ASTME 119 or UL 263, the fire exposure time period, water pres-sure and application duration criteria for the hose stream testof ASTM E 119 or UL 263 shall be based upon thefire-resistance ratingdetermined in accordance with Nonsymmetrical wall wallsand partitions of nonsymmetrical construction shall betested with both faces exposed to the furnace, and theassignedfire-resistance ratingshall be the shortest durationobtained from the two tests conducted in compliance withASTM E 119 or UL 263. When evidence is furnished toshow that the wall was tested with the least fire-resistant sideexposed to the furnace, subject to acceptance of thebuildingofficial, the wall need not be subjected to tests from theopposite side (see Section forexterior walls).

9 Combustible aggre-gates are permitted in gypsum and portland cement concretemixtures for fire-resistance-rated construction. Any compo-nent material or admixture is permitted in assemblies if theresulting tested assembly meets the fire-resistance testrequirements of this Restrained tested under ASTM E 119 or UL 263 shall not beconsidered to be restrained unless evidence satisfactory tothebuilding officialis furnished by theregistered designprofessionalshowing that the construction qualifies for FLORIDA BUILDING CODE BUILDINGFIRE AND SMOKE PROTECTION FEATURES restrained classification in accordance with ASTM E 119 orUL 263. Restrained construction shall be identified on Alternative methods for determining fire application of any of the alternative methods listed in thissection shall be based on the fire exposure and acceptance crite-ria specified in ASTM E 119 or UL 263.

10 The requiredfire resis-tanceof a building element, component or assembly shall bepermitted to be established by any of the following methods orprocedures:1. Fire-resistance designs documented in Prescriptive designs of fire-resistance-rated buildingelements, components or assemblies as prescribed inSection Calculations in accordance with Section Engineering analysis based on a comparison of buildingelement, component or assemblies designs havingfire-resistance ratingsas determined by the test proce-dures set forth in ASTM E 119 or UL Alternative PROTECTION methods as allowed by Noncombustibility tests indicated in and shall serve as criteria for acceptance ofbuilding materials as set forth in Sections , in Type I, II, III and IV construction. The term noncombustible does not apply to the flame spread charac-teristics ofinterior finishortrimmaterials.
