ROM, EPROM, and EEPROM Technology
Field programmability is the EPROM’s main advantage over the ROM. It allows the user to buy mass-produced devices and program each device for a specific need. This characteristic also makes the EPROM ideal for small-volume applications, as the devices ar e usually programmed in very small quantities.
