April 5 of 8 AOZ8858DI-03 high speed PCB layout GuidelinesPrinted circuit board layout is the key to achieving thehighest level of surge immunity on power and data location of the protection devices on the PCB is thesimplest and most important design rule to follow. TheAOZ8858DI-03 devices should be located as close aspossible to the noise source.
5 The AOZ8858DI-03 deviceshould be placed on all data and power lines that enter orexit the PCB at the I/O connector. In most systems, surgepulses occur on data and power lines that enter the PCBthrough the I/O connector. Placing the aoz8858di -03devices as close as possible to the noise source ensuresthat a surge voltage will be clamped before the pulse canbe coupled into adjacent PCB traces. In addition, the PCB should use the shortest possibletraces. A short trace length equates to low impedance,which ensures that the surge energy will be dissipated bythe AOZ8858DI-03 device. Long signal traces will act asantennas to receive energy from fields that are producedby the ESD pulse. By keeping line lengths as short aspossible, the efficiency of the line to act as an antenna forESD related fields is reduced.
6 Minimize interconnectingline lengths by placing devices with the most interconnectas close together as possible. The protection circuitsshould shunt the surge voltage to either the reference orchassis ground. Shunting the surge voltage directly to theIC s signal ground can cause ground bounce. The PCB layoutand IC package parasitic inductances can causesignificant overshoot to the TVS s clamping voltage. Theinductance of the PCB can be reduced by using shorttrace lengths and multiple layers with separate groundand power planes.
7 One effective method to minimizeloop problems is to incorporate a ground plane in thePCB AOZ8858DI-03 ultra-low capacitance TVS isdesigned to protect four high speed data transmissionlines from transient over-voltages by clamping them to afixed reference. The low inductance and constructionminimizes voltage overshoot during high current the voltage on the protected line exceeds thereference voltage the internal steering diodes are forwardbiased, conducting the transient current away from thesensitive circuitry. The AOZ8858DI-03 is designed forease of PCB layout by allowing the traces to rununderneath the device. The pinout of the aoz8858di -03is designed to simply drop onto the IO lines of a HighDefinition Multimedia Interface (HDMI ) or design without having to divert the signal linesthat may add more parasitic inductance.
