Application informationThe PESD2 CAN is designed for the protection of two automotive CAN bus lines from the damage caused by ESD and surge pulses. The PESD2 CAN can be used for both, high-speed CAN bus and fault-tolerant CAN bus protection . The PESD2 CAN provides a surge capability of up to 230 W per line for an 8/20 s waveform. Circuit board layout and protection device placement:Circuit board layout is critical for the suppression of ESD, Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) and surge transients. The following guidelines are recommended:1. Place the PESD2 CAN as close to the input terminal or connector as Minimize the path length between the PESD2 CAN and the protected Keep parallel signal paths to a Avoid running protection conductors in parallel with unprotected Minimize all Printed-Circuit Board (PCB) conductive loops including power and ground Minimize the length of the transient return path to Avoid using shared transient return paths to a common ground Use ground planes whenever possible.

6 For multilayer PCBs, use ground Test Quality informationThis product has been qualified in accordance with the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) standard Q101 - Stress test qualification for discrete semiconductors, and is suitable for use in automotive 10.
